Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers!
Here is some important info to help you prepare for the photoshoot session:
We’re so excited to work with you! Whether it’s your first headshot session or your fifth, this is a big step in your career — and we’re here to make it as smooth, fun, and empowering as possible.
Let’s get you fully prepped so you can walk in confident and ready to shine!
📅 Before Your Session
✅ ARRIVE EARLY
Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for steaming your wardrobe, filling out our intake form, and having your pre-session consult. We typically have clients booked back-to-back, so punctuality helps us deliver the best experience.
🤧 FEELING SICK?
If you or anyone in your household is unwell, please reschedule at least 24–48 hours in advance. We appreciate the courtesy to protect our team and other clients.
🧠 How to Plan for Your Headshot Session
Start with a Positive Attitude!
Yes, it’s normal to feel nervous — but remember, you’re investing in yourself and your career. We love what we do, and we want you to enjoy this process. Come in open, excited, and ready to have fun!
Talk to Your Agent (If You Have One)
If you’re represented, speak with your agent about the types of roles they’re submitting you for. This helps us tailor the shoot to target the right character types and casting needs.
No Agent? No Problem!
Think about the roles and shows you feel most aligned with. What characters come naturally in acting class? What’s filming in Vancouver right now, and where do you see yourself fitting in?
If you’re unsure about your branding, you can book a consultation with us to develop a focused plan for your headshot session.
👗 Wardrobe Guide
🎯 The Goal:
Your wardrobe should support your brand and enhance your story, not distract from it. Think solid colours, flattering fits, and character-appropriate looks.
We typically shoot 4–6 wardrobe changes (unless you booked the Two-Look session). Bring more than you think you’ll need — variety gives us more to work with.
✅ What to Bring
For Everyone:
- Freshly cleaned and steamed/ironed clothing
- A variety of solid colours – not just black, white, or grey
- Different styles: t-shirts, tanks, button-ups, sweaters, jackets
- Proper undergarments (nude, white, and black)
- Lint roller
- Hair and makeup products (if not using our stylist)
- Jewelry that reflects your personality or brand (optional) FYI Most talent agents prefer no accessories.
- Neutral/dark jeans or pants (waist-up only, but comfort matters!)
Essential Clothing That Works :
- Classic cuts and clean necklines (crew, v-neck, scoop, etc.)
- Jackets: suit, leather, denim, cardigans, etc.
- Colors: jewel tones, earth tones, pastels — all welcome! Commercial Actors should wear colour!
Clothing ‘NOs’:
- Logos, writing, or busy patterns
- Neon or reflective fabrics
- See-through or very tight clothing
- Super bulky tops or oversized items
- Transitional (auto-darkening) glasses — they will go dark under lights
Pro Tip: bring glasses with the lenses popped out for clean shots
👩🎤 Ladies – Your Wardrobe Checklist
- Tank tops, halters, blouses, light sweaters, fitted jackets
- Proper bras – nude, black, strapless options. Avoid lace/rhinestones
- Nipple covers (just in case)
- Try on outfits a few days in advance with undergarments
- Jewelry: simple earrings, rings, necklaces – keep it subtle
- Nails: Neat, no chipped polish
- Shaving: If applicable, please ensure you’re clean-shaven for sleeveless tops
👨🎤 Gentlemen – Your Wardrobe Checklist
- T-shirts (crew/v-neck), henleys, polos, button-ups, lightweight jackets
- Bring options in a range of colours
- If planning to shave mid-session, let us know to schedule time
- If shaving causes redness, plan timing accordingly
- Optional: jewelry that fits your brand (rings, chains, earrings, etc.)
💄 Hair & Makeup
If You’re Using Our Hair & Makeup Stylist:
You’re in great hands! Just arrive with a clean, moisturized face and dry, clean hair.
Doing Your Own?
- Keep it natural and light
- Avoid heavy eyeliner or bold eye shadow
- Lipstick should be in light to medium tones
- Use good foundation for an even skin tone
